The Butterfly Effect Remake is on the Way

The Butterfly Effect Remake is on the WayFilmEngine and Benderspink are on their way to remaking Eric Bress’ The Butterfly Effect. Bress will be on board to pen the new script with Producers Anthony Rhulen, Chris Bender and JC Spink. All of which were on board for the original. Currently they have no director attached but I assume Bress could possibly step up to fill the void.

The original Butterfly Effect had a very intriguing concept and was executed fairly well. Ashton Kutcher wasn’t even that much of an annoyance in it. But does this movie really need to be remade? I don’t think so. It is a very strong concept and could show some promise but at this point I am not convinced.

The original of course starred the above mentioned Ashton Kutcher and Amy Smart. The film managed to pull in a substantial $96 million at the box office on only a budget of $13 million. Not to mention it spawned two, less than fantastic, straight to DVD sequels.

It’s not that old of a movie and I enjoyed the original… I see no point and it’ll probably be horrible.
