American Horror Story: Coven First Details RevealedIf like me, you’re sure to be super pumped for American Horror Story: Coven, especially after the announcement yesterday which revealed that Alexandra Breckenridge would be returning to the fold in American Horror Story: Coven. Now, we have more details for you and just who will be playing who in the latest season.

Recently the stars and producer of American Horror Story, hit up the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour to reveal some intriguing tidbits for us all to chow on, and The Hollywood Reporter has the details which follow.

According to the site, Jessica Lange will be playing the character Fiona and Lange had this to say;

Some of us play witches, some of us play historical characters. I do play a witch. We move back and forth in time. It encompasses a lot of different stories. I’ve shot two days so far, one day entrances and exits, the other day a scene. I don’t know who the character is yet. It comes in little dribs and drabs.

Angela Bassett is said to play a real person, Marie Laveau, “a voodoo expert who, along with her daughter, had a big multiracial following.”

Bassett said;

It’s been interesting being in New Orleans, there’s such a regard and respect for who she was. She was a woman in 1801 who lives to be 80 years old, who is a very influential person in the city. My character is based loosely on her.

Kathy Bates is also said to play a real person, this time Madame LaLurie, “a Louisiana-born socialite and serial killer who kept slaves bound in her home.”

Sarah Paulson will play the character Cordelia, the daughter to Jessica Lange’s Fiona. Producer Tim Minear said;

It would be safe to think of Cordelia in line with the character in William Shakespeare’s King Lear.

And final details about the series. Coven is said to feature Salem witches which are fleeing to the South. Minear said;

This year is a drama but there is a lot of humor, and we are embracing a kind of velocity and fun with the series. It’s not the same as it was the past two years, but I think it can be more fun for the audience.

It should also be noted that there will be two kinds of witches in the series.

So, there you go, some early details to get us thinking for a bit, and well, what do you guys think? As for me, it sounds great, but I’m a little skeptical now considering it is said to be different compared to the last two seasons, but I’m sure it will still be bad-ass.

        I really liked season one. Season two was up and down for me. I’m really excited to see how this season goes. I think the idea of Salem witches fleeing to New Orleans with its voodoo culture is fun. Thanks for the update! :)

          No worries! I’m super stoked to see how this one plays out too, but I must say I am somewhat skeptical. However, I’m pretty sure they will nail it. Thanks for commenting.
