MGM Scopes Out a Robot Serial Killer in ‘Abe’

Chris Savage

Are you guys looking for something a little different? Well, we may have your hook-up. How about a flick which features a robot obsessed with capturing, torturing and killer young helpless females? If so, then we have the flick for you and MGM look set to catapult this one to the masses.

According to Deadline,  MGM has acquired rights to make a feature out of British writer/director/VFX artist Rob McLellan’s short Abe. At this time little is known about what MGM plan to do with the project, but the short (see below) is definitely intriguing.

McLellan will write and direct the feature for MGM with Kevin Misher and Steve Tzirlin on producing duties.

However, if you’re fed up with torture porn, this one probably won’t offer much different bar the fact that it features a freakin’ robot serial killer! That alone has me intrigued, although a little skeptical.

Check out the short below and lets hear what you guys think and if it will work as a feature?

The idea has loads of potential, what puts me off is that the victim in the short is just there to be the victim. There’s no sense that the women the killer is murdering are of any interest to the filmmakers? The best serial killer movies really try to make the people in jeopardy as interesting as the killer.

Yep. Good points. But hopefully with a feature I’m sure they will add to that aspect. Hopefully.
