Official Red Band Trailer for the Curse of Chucky

Chris Savage

Sorry Jack, Chucky’s back! And this time, that evil little doll is firing on all cylinders and for the first time in many years, I am actually stoked for a Chucky movie. So, with the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD release of the film this October 8th, we have scored the official red band trailer courtesy of B-D. And yes, it’s awesome!

During the past few films in the series, I really thought the franchise had died a horrible end. But thankfully, Curse of Chucky looks set to be the film to put the franchise back on track, and if this is the end, then well, at least they have gone out on a high.

SynopsisHe’s back! From the filmmakers that brought you Chucky comes the terrifying return of the pint-sized doll possessed by the spirit of a notorious serial killer. When a mysterious package arrives at the house of Nica (Fiona Dourif, “True Blood“), she doesn’t give it much thought. However, after her mother’s mysterious death, Nica begins to suspect that the talking, red-haired doll her visiting niece has been playing with may be the key to the ensuing bloodshed and chaos. The return of America’s favorite toy, voiced again by Brad Dourif, is unrated and full of more blood-splattered thrills and chills.

I think this looks pretty kick ass, but am I the only one worried as to why this is being released straight to DVD? I mean even the god-awful Seed of Chucky saw a theatrical release so there has to be a catch right?

I’m not sure why, but, just because it is going straight to DVD doesn’t mean it will suck. Also, the DVD package and the complete Chucky collection looks pretty damn awesome as it features all the films including this one with a load of extra content. I agree, the new Chucky film looks badass and I’m really not sure if being given a theatrical release would help in its favor as I’m sure many still have the bad taste of Seed of Chucky in their mouth and didn’t even check out the trailer for the new one.

But who knows, maybe if we demand a theatrical release, they may hear our calls.

I must admit another horror franchise which I enjoyed but maybe a little cheesy “Final Destination” and it looks as though there will be a box set of “Chucky” and from what I understand the new “Curse” goes direct to dvd/bluray. Judging by the new trailer Chucky has put on a little weight and has and the hair is longer, looking forward to it.
