Last week we told you that X-Files series creator Chris Carter was still adamant about bringing a third sequel to the big screen. In the same interview with Empire, he also mentioned that he wanted Simon Pegg to join the cast. The fan reaction was pretty positive towards the idea, but how did Simon Pegg feel about the notion?
The Sun recently interviewed Simon and put that very question to him. Here’s what he had to say about taking on a role in the X-Files universe:
I was a big fan of “The X-Files” and I’ve become friends with Gillian [Anderson] since. I’ve always loved that show so it’s definitely something I’d consider. It’s a great story and it would be nice to see it continue [but] it has to be with David Duchovny and Gillian.
I don’t think there’s any chance in the world that they’d make another X-Files movie without Gillian and David, so it sounds like if they manage to produce a solid script then Pegg would be on board for the film. With Carter reiterating that the next film would return to it’s original mythology, there’s a lot of hope that the next film might finally be the X-Files movie fans have been waiting for.
