Now, before you jump the gun and get too excited, you should know that “The Purge” and “Curse of Chucky” are coming to Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights as “Scare Zones.” Not full on mazes. At least, as far as we know.
Universal Studios Creative Director John Murdy took to Twitter last night to tease the next two movies to be featured in this years Halloween Horror Nights event. These two new additions will be taking the form of “Scare Zones.” For those new to the HHN experience, a scare zone is an area of the park that has been redressed and given a theme. It’s not just a visual aesthetic though, there are people roaming these areas looking to scare the crap out of you.
“The Purge” will take up the main entrance of Universal Studios Hollywood, which means you’ll probably have to fight your way through crazy masked people brandishing all sorts of devilish weaponry. As for Chucky, who knows where he’ll be in the park, but trouble will follow him wherever he goes.
A few years ago, Chucky used to have an “Insult Emporium” where guests would line up to be berated and humiliated by the little psycho. Unfortunately, YouTube kind of killed this event. There were just too many videos out there of people being verbally thrashed by Chucky, so they had to put the kibosh on the whole thing. You can check out one of the videos below (beware, it’s definitely NSFW).
Then when Universal Studios let him go, Chucky took the news rather hard. Remember the Universal Backlot fire from a few years ago? Yeah, that was Chucky. No, I’m serious, they even mentioned it in the Terror Tram that was themed after Chucky. You can also check out that video below (NSFW as well).
I love the addition of Chucky and no matter what sort of capacity he returns in, I’m just glad the little guy has some life left in him.
