The Purge: Fear the Night Coming to LA this Halloween

Jason McDonald

The haunted house attraction industry here in California may seem like it’s already bulging at the seams.  Practically every theme park in the state has their own big Halloween event, whether it’s the titans in the industry like Universal Studios or the local mom and pop places like Scandia.

Even local tourist attractions put on a scary facade to bring in traffic during the Fall season.  Old relics of the past that are rumored to be haunted finally spring to life with terrors during October.  From old ships like the Queen Mary to the San Diego Hotel, these places cash-in on the local rumors and speculation for one month of pure unadulterated fun and mayhem.

Personally, I welcome the increase in competition this industry is getting.  With more companies battling for your dollar, there’s a greater incentive to try and one up each other and provide a experience you won’t find anywhere else.  Take, for example, the latest competitor to enter the fray.

Blumhouse Productions may be primarily known for horror movies like “Paranormal Activity” and “Sinister”, but Jason Blum is looking to take you out of the theater and place you in the middle of the terror.  Last year he jumped into the Halloween season with “Blumhouse of Horror” which was well-received within the community. This year he’s looking to up the ante with an attraction based around a film they released earlier this year: “The Purge: Fear the Night.”

This Halloween, Blumhouse Productions – the company behind such terrifying films as the Paranormal Activity franchises,Sinister and Insidious – invites you to take part in a horror-theater experience unlike any you’ve ever seen.

It’s a full evening of shocking exploration that plunges you into the terrifying world envisioned in The Purge, where for one horrific night each year, all crime is legal.

Directed by the team that conceived the phenomenally successful Blackout haunted house, THE PURGE: FEAR THE NIGHTgoes way beyond theater, movies or even haunted houses.

As a “delegate” to the New Founding Fathers Convention – which takes place every Purge Night – politicians, patriots, dissidents and traitors will directly engage you.

You will be encouraged to interact with your surroundings and uncover the carefully guarded secrets of Purge Night … and you’ll discover that every action you take can have disturbing consequences.

Within the New Founding Fathers Headquarters, no one is innocent – not even you.

Beginning September 27, THE PURGE: FEAR THE NIGHT will be open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays – with expanded hours during Halloween week.

There will be only two entry periods each evening, and you must arrive for your selected time.

There will be strictly limited capacity each evening … so book your tickets now for an evening of terror and mystery unlike any you’ve ever known.

To visit THE PURGE: FEAR THE NIGHT, you must be 18 or older.

Tickets for the event will run you about $65 per person.  Be sure to visit their official website for more information on how to get your tickets and for dates and times.  Also, be sure to check out the video below from Jason Blum who talks more about the concept behind “The Purge: Fear the Night.”
