With the FrightFest film festival well underway in the UK. Don Mancini’s latest flick Curse of Chucky received its world premiere of the uncut version of the film. Once the film finished however, Don Mancini and Fiona Dourif took to the stage for a Q&A with the audience and among other things, a Chucky versus film was brought up.
As per Bleeding Cool;
It all just seems too obvious to me [Leprechaun vs Chucky]. I mean Freddy vs. Jason, I thought that was a fun movie… But for me the problem with that team up is that Jason doesn’t really have any personality and doesn’t talk. If Freddy and Chucky got together that would be a really funny double act. If you did a Child’s Play on Elm Street and did it like a horror movie version of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. So Chucky and Freddy meet and Freddy says, Chucky I’m a big fan of your work. Chucky says, Freddy I admire your technique. And they decide that Elm Street is too small for the two of them so they have to have a contest to see who can kill the most teenagers before sunrise.
Now while I doubt a Freddy vs. Chucky film will ever transpire, just the thought of such a versus film has me intrigued. So, my question to you, would you like to see Freddy go toe-to-toe with Chucky? Or perhaps you have someone else in mind, sound off below and let’s hear you.
Also, Mancini has suggested that perhaps a Chucky musical could be a thing of the future, with Bride of Chucky being the inspiration. I mean horror musicals seem to be making quite a splash with such films as The Evil Dead and Re-Animator.
