Things were getting a little heavy there for “The Bureau: XCOM Declassified” and their ad campaign. When a video offers you the choice of either alcoholism or suicide, you know it’s time to lighten things up a bit. However, some fans are feeling that the latest video is a little too light.
2K Marin wanted to emphasis the fact that in “The Bureau” death is permanent. If you get a fellow agent killed, that’s it, he’s gone forever. So every choice in battle matters and one wrong move can cost you everything. In fact, you could say that agents only live once. That’s kind of catchy…they should shorten that to an acronym that’s easy to remember and hip. Hmm. Watch the latest video below while I think this over.
The year is 1962, JFK is President and the Cold War has the nation gripped by fear- but a far more powerful enemy than communism is threatening America. Known only to a select few, a top-secret government unit called “The Bureau” begins investigating and concealing a series of mysterious attacks by an otherworldly enemy. As special agent William Carter, players call the shots, pull the trigger and lead their squad in a gripping third-person tactical shooter set within high-stakes, covert war to protect humanity. The Bureau’s mission is clear- survive, adapt, and overcome the enemy threat. The Bureau has been erasing the truth for decades. The time will come for the truth to be revealed.
“The Bureau: XCOM Declassified” is being developed by 2K Marin and will hit XBox 360, PS3, and PC on August 20, 2013.
