Prom night is terrifying enough when you’re not a disturbed individual with mental powers. The awkward tension, the peer pressure, the danger of someone spiking the punch. That’s why I didn’t go to mine. It certainly wasn’t because no one invited me.
Nope, no bitter loneliness here.
Oh hey, look over there! It’s a new “Carrie” featurette!
In the video below you’ll get to hear from Kimberly Peirce and the film’s stars as they talk about “Carrie” and some of the films underlying themes. Mostly, though, you’ll get to see a lot more footage of the film which hits theaters on October 18th, 2013.
The moment that really stands out to me in the featurette is the infamous shower scene. Now, this is a bit of a spoiler, but one of the pivotal moments in “Carrie” is when she has her period for the first time in the middle of the girl’s locker room. In De Palma’s movie that scene was mortifying, you couldn’t help but to feel incredibly humiliated for Carrie as the girls crowded around to mock her. Now imagine that scene with cell phone cameras and people instantly spreading the image of her lying on the floor across the school. Holy shit, that makes me sick to my stomach.
The updated take on the Brian De Palma classic is being directed by Kimberly Peirce and stars Chloe Moretz as the titular character along with Julianne Moore, Gabriella Wilde, Judy Greer, and Alex Russell.
