Open Road to Distribute Eli Roth’s Green Inferno

After a strong premiere at Toronto International Film Festival last week and a slew of positive reviews (one of which from us) someone has finally snatched up Eli Roth’s “The Green Inferno.”

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Open Road is going to handle the U.S. distribution of “The Green Inferno.” It is believed that the film will get a wide release as well, so here’s to hoping I won’t have to travel to a major city to see it.

Set deep in the heart of the Amazon, The Green Inferno follows a group of student activists who travel to visit a dying tribe. When their plane crashes, they are taken hostage by the very natives they came to observe.

The film was directed by Eli Roth who also co-wrote it with Guillermo Amoedo.  Amoedo previously worked on the Roth produced film “Aftershock.”

Last week we told you that a sequel was being planned for the “The Green Inferno”, but there’s no word on whether or not Open Road will distribute that film as well.  No release date has been set, but that should happen relatively soon.  If I were a betting man, I’d say that it’ll probably aim for a summer 2014 release.
