First Official Clip for Oldboy

Chris Savage

Who would have thought that we would be seeing the day when Spike Lee would be directing his take on Park Chan-wook’s Oldboy? I mean, you can’t make this stuff up. But, it is what it is and the remake is on the way and who knows, maybe Spike Lee’s remake will surprise us all in a good way. Either way, we have scored the first official clip courtesy of ETonline, and you can check it out below.

The film stars Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, and Sharlto Copley.

SynopsisOldboy is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.

Look for the film in theatres this November 27th.

Why oh why Lord. Remakes always suck

It doesn’t look like a very good remake. If they had to do an American remake, they should have saved the movie by doing two things. Getting a different director and casting Bruce Campbell as the lead. Wouldn’t that kick some ass? Maybe it would even kick a LOT of ass.

Bruce is too old for this role

Robert Rodriguez (sp.?) would probably be a good choice of director, but he would probably not be interested because he would probably want to leave a good movie (the original) alone.

Sometimes remakes are good. Recently, they have all sucked.

I actually think this could turn out well. Josh Brolin is a great actor, as is Sharlto Copley and Spike Lee is a good director.

Old Boy great film from the orientals… Wow Spike Lee is directing. Cool. I hope he puts his liberal white people are evil slant (no pun intended) on it.

Wasn’t the main character kind of old in the original movie? Bruce would still probably fit the part.
