While James Wan may not be directing a new horror movie anytime soon, thanks to his retirement from the genre, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have his fingers in a few horror pies. Mmmm, horror pie.
Though Wan is currently directing the next installment in the “Fast and the Furious” franchise, he is also currently attached as a producer to a horror film due out next year. Up until now the project was simply known as “Untitled James Wan Thriller.” An unimaginative, but descriptive title to be sure.
However, Desde Hollywood has learned that the film has received a new title and an up-to-date synopsis:
DEMONIC takes place after the massacre of five college students in an abandoned house. As investigators begin to unravel the murders, they uncover clues to what began as an innocent ghost-hunting excursion but eventually turned into a terrifying escapade involving the house itself.
“Demonic” is currently in post-production and is being directed by Will Canon based on a script from himself, James Wan, Doug Simon, and Max La Bella. “Demonic” stars Maria Bello and Frank Grillo as the two leads. Though the film is due out sometime next year, there isn’t a specific release date for it yet.
