Kevin Tancharoen Exits the Mortal Kombat Reboot

Chris Savage

mortal-kombatHow many of you guys followed Kevin Tancharoen’s Mortal Kombat: Legacy web-seires as well as his fan film Mortal Kombat: Re-Birth? Yeah, it was pretty killer stuff, so it made sense that he was going to helm the big-screen debut. Sadly, this is no longer the case.

Recently Kevin Tancharoen took to Twitter to announce the following;

After 3 years of Kombat,I’ve decided to move on to other creative
opportunities. I wish everyone involved in the movie big success. Thanks!

The news comes as a major blow for the planned reboot, but it still appears as if the film will go ahead. Still, seeing what Tancharoen could have done on the big-screen would have been awesome. I guess us Mortal Kombat fans wait some more, I mean, we’re pretty much use to waiting, right?

        Damn!! I liked Legacy…..oh well at least it’s still open to a re-boot! Hopefully it’s really dark! And rated R!

        Both Legacy are nice but I don’t believe the guy would have been the one to make a 2-hour high-budget movie.
        There’s something very B-serie about those legacy in my point of view. Characters are too simple, actors are mostly bad and overacting their character, fights got better in the second legacy but compared to other fighting movies like the one with Tony Jaa or District B13, it’s very poor and there are only few impressive moves. But it’s a fighting movie after all, it’s all about kombat, if the story is bad, it’s still acceptable but keep the fights at their best.

        Maybe they’re looking for a Zack Snyder or a Michael Bay to complete the project but they might not have the budget to do so.

        P.S. I hope they won’t put Cage in the cast, just…please…forget that this character exists. He’s such a douchebag, I don’t think anybody would cheer for a guy like that.

        Nick Cage will play as Johnny Cage…it only seems right.
