Today is Halloween and that means my 31 day binge on horror films has officially come to an end. Halloween is always bittersweet for me. It is my favorite day of the year but it also leads into the very end of the Halloween season. No more television specials, no more store displays, everything is just gone for a whole year.
Well anyway tonight I’m giving you guys the final wrap up which includes the last three days of the month along with a complete run down of what I watched the first four weeks. So enjoy.
October 29th: Halloween (1978)
There isn’t really much I can say about this movie that hasn’t already been said. It’s a classic staple of the Halloween season and any self-respecting horror fan is probably going to watch it at least once in October.
October 30th: Halloween II (1981)
If you watch the first Halloween you have to follow it up with part 2. This is my personal favorite Halloween film of them all. Just an overall great flick that really showed off the potential that Michael Myers had for an entire franchise. Although if he had taken a permanent dirt nap in this film I think it wouldn’t have been that bad either. He would eventually get a remake these days anyway.
October 31st: Mad Monster Party?
If you read my articles on this website at all you would know that I absolutely love this Rankin & Bass stop motion animation love letter to classic movie monsters. Ever since I can remember I have watched this film on Halloween. It’s been a twenty plus year tradition and I’m not about to break it now. If you haven’t seen this movie yet you owe it to yourself to check it out at least once. It’s also completely kid friendly so invite them in to enjoy the holiday together.
Well that about wraps up the 2013 31 Days of Halloween movie marathon for me. This year was harder than ever with work and school but I somehow managed to pull it off. Not sure if I’ll do it again next year or not but it was good to finally watch a lot of movies I had never seen before.
Now you can check out all the previous recaps along with a small listing of the movies I watched that week. Did I miss something I should have watched? What did you guys watch? Have a great Halloween guys and hopefully next year I’ll be back doing this all over again.
