First Trailer for The Coven

Ryan Sternfels

Seems as though witches are making a comeback with the latest season of American Horror Story and now the upcoming teenage witch movie, The Coven.  Directed by John MackieThe Coven follows a group of teenage girls who enter the mysterious and historic Queen’s Wood hoping to witness pagan activity.  But they soon learn they are a part of an ancient ritual when a shadowy Biker hunts them down.

The film stars Dexter Fletcher (Kick-Ass), Cloe and Holly Mackie (St. Trinian’s), and Mark Harris (Abducted).  This is director John Mackie‘s feature film debut, with no word on where the script originated.

From the looks of the trailer The Coven seems to have been made with a micro-budget, although IMDB estimates it at £615,000 coming in at nearly $1 million.  That’s relatively small by Hollywood budget standards, but seems about right for a British indie with investors who’ve got heavy pockets.  It’s curious though considering the trailer looks a bit low-brow, but intriguing nonetheless.

We’ll let you know when we get a more specific release date other than sometime next year.
