Kevin contact us if you want a team member to review it via the contact page. Its always hard to do a ‘worst of’ list because its subjective but I think everyone here respects the work that goes into making a movie. I know I do.

        • BlondeRobynGirl November 18, 2013 at 8:37 pm

I enjoyed You’re Next! Not a ten out of ten, but I thought it was a good slasher flick.

        • DemonicHoodlum December 13, 2013 at 5:17 pm

Wow you don’t even have to see it to know what happens? And it’s your pick of the worst horror movie of the year when you haven’t even seen it? Wow, get out much? I respect others’ opinions if they differ from mine, but not those who speak on movies they haven’t seen. I considered You’re Next to be the BEST horror movie of the year and many critics agreed. Your loss, but I’d be willing to bet you don’t care. May I ask what you consider to be your best horror movie pic of the year?

      7. Super8rocks November 16, 2013 at 5:49 pm

The Purge. I’m going by an actual studio flick released in theatres. Great concept but WOW, was it laughable!

        • Jim VanBebber December 30, 2013 at 3:03 pm

Amen to that, they took a killer idea and turned it into typical anti-white liberal Hollywood garbage.

        • shelly November 18, 2013 at 1:10 pm

I agree…Evil Dead remake was HORRIBLE!!!

        • Michael kruger November 24, 2013 at 6:49 pm

Evil dead remake was WAY too gory.

        • Jim VanBebber December 30, 2013 at 3:07 pm

Anyone who didn’t like the Evil Dead re-make doesn’t like the original 3 films, or at least they shouldn’t because the re-make stayed completely true to the originals. It was a gory as hell, fun ass movie just like the others.

loved the opening 3d transfer from the original ( the entire original should have a special 3d edition available for those who love the original) “GARBAGE” is a kind word to describe the rest of the movie

      31. Tiago November 17, 2013 at 12:41 am

Vhs 2 and abcs of death. Complete waste of time.

      32. Christo Max November 17, 2013 at 12:56 am

The Conjuring, purely for the overhype and huge let down. A lot of the above were probably worse, but they didn’t have the expectations (for me) that I had for The Conjuring. So I wasn’t nearly as let down.

      33. Randy Polk November 17, 2013 at 9:59 am

Clearly, it’s the Evil Dead remake. What a waste of time and money. Garbage.

      34. Robert Casmirovici November 17, 2013 at 11:06 am

besides the story, The Purge was pretty boring. also, any remake.

      35. Sandy von P November 17, 2013 at 1:03 pm

        The Purge.

      36. Scott November 17, 2013 at 1:42 pm

ABCs of death – over hyped and mostly plain boring
Frankenstein’s Army was also a let down for me
        The Conjuring

3 films I could have avoided pleasantly this year

      37. Kenneth Wilburn November 17, 2013 at 4:14 pm

        Yes..purge sucked

      38. Kathy November 17, 2013 at 5:05 pm

None of those movies above are as bad as people making out, there not great movies but far, Far , Far away from being the worst movie, some of these will end up on 10 top ten best list!

These are worst movies that I seen that came out this in UK

        Unaware (2010/I)
        Bigfoot County (2012)
The Last Exorcism Part II (2013)

Other bad movies that I seen this year from last year
        Backslasher (2012)
        The Lost Episode (2012)
        Greystone Park (2012)
        Zombies Vs. Strippers (2012)

      41. Branden Van Sciver November 18, 2013 at 12:02 am

The Conjuring was a disappointment to me, almost like an Insideous reject!

        • xashfordx November 22, 2013 at 10:58 pm

          world war z wasn’t a horror film

      46. efeigles November 18, 2013 at 2:53 pm

The Cloth – not even Danny Trejo could save it!

      47. Jim VanBebber November 18, 2013 at 4:08 pm

Hey I hate remakes as much as any “true” horror fan but anyone who said the new Evil Dead sucked really isn’t a fan of the Evil Dead movies at all. What did you want from it??? It was a fun as Hell, cheesy, gory good time just like the originals. Lighten up douchebags.
As for the worst of 2013 it is a tie between The Purge and Texas 3D. Both were nothing more than horrific Hollywood liberal political bullshit.

        • Gary Benjamin Holt Jr November 19, 2013 at 1:37 am

I’m baffled, too. Evil Dead wasn’t even almost bad, let alone the worst horror film of 2013.

        • xashfordx November 22, 2013 at 11:00 pm

but you have just shown that you are not mature enough to have a sensible opinion as you felt the need to insult the people who did not like it. You need to grow up a bit.

      48. Dave November 18, 2013 at 7:36 pm

        Lords of Salem

      49. David Flack ( Wolfie) November 18, 2013 at 9:21 pm

      50. Gary Benjamin Holt Jr November 19, 2013 at 1:36 am

Are people serious with Evil Dead? lol That movie was flawless. Y’all need to stop.

Of horror films I’ve seen this year, The Collection was probably the weakest, but I still enjoyed it. I didn’t see any horror that I disliked this year so I can’t vote. =(

        • Brandon November 23, 2013 at 9:02 pm

I pretty much new there would be a lot of votes for Evil Dead and The Conjuring.. Both very popular movies.. It’s kind of the thing now to hate on popular movies..

Sharknado…..the good thing Tara Reid didnt say much lol. and Lords of Salem-annoying!

        ABC’s of Death

      54. chelseaw88 November 20, 2013 at 5:56 pm

Lords of Salem was, by far, the worst. Huge fan of Rob Zombie’s movies but was super disappointed with this one. VHS 2 was pretty terrible as well. I was very excited for it, since I was a big fan of the first one but it let me down as well.

Haha exactly James that is what I was thinking.

      58. Angie November 21, 2013 at 8:46 pm

I am surprised that so many people dislike The Purge! I was pretty much on the edge of my seat the whole time. I tend to imagine what I would feel in any situation I see in a movie, and the whole thing seemed utterly terrifying. Plus – Anyone who saw Mama has to vote it the worst… I mean really. lol

        • Anderson December 5, 2013 at 1:48 am

I honestly wanted every single character on that movie to just die. I loved the idea of the purge and I was so pumped for it but honestly I was never so angry during a movie in my life. I mean, stupid characters in horror movies? Ok, that’s normal, now, retarded people who make ALL the wrong decisions possible in every single situation is very frustrating. Because of that it just lost any creepy aspect for me.

        • Michael kruger December 16, 2013 at 9:36 pm

I agree with you on both of those statements. The purge was terrifying, and mama was good until the ending, where the got real dumb.

      59. Michelle Bachman November 23, 2013 at 3:55 am

Lords of Salem was horrible but I couldn’t stop watching kept hoping it would get better. I love rob zombie but this movie wasn’t just the worst this year but the worst I have ever seen

      60. Michael Allen November 23, 2013 at 9:47 am

        Zombie Hunter: it sucked!

      61. kenny patton November 24, 2013 at 10:28 am

Worst movie. Insidious 2. The first was amazing and they ruined it with the sequel

        • Michael kruger November 24, 2013 at 6:53 pm

Well, some people thought it was the best.

      62. james November 24, 2013 at 1:04 pm

Many of you here are dissing movies here that are fun and watchable …. we are talking about a genre that has slim pickin’s to begin with, and many of the films mentioned are decently made horror films… now, my only beef is with the films that are put out on Netflix and Amazon Instant that are FULL price, shot on video, and look and sound like High School film projects, many much worse…. I don’t feel it’s right to mention names because whether good or bad, a lot of time is put into making a movie and looking at this list, it is so subjective that many on the list are films that I personally enjoy.

      63. Kalypso Skitz November 24, 2013 at 3:38 pm

The Purge. I went in to it actually expecting to enjoy it so I wasn’t biased against the actors or the plotline like I feel a lot of people were. However, they took a concept full of potential, turned it into a typical home invasion film, typed the characters into heroic father, oblivious children, and worthless mother. All the characters were throwaways (except Ethan Hawke’s) and I was hoping the entire time that Hawke would realize how useless his family is and waste them himself and start over. Also the ending pissed me off because it’s so unrealistic. The Purge ends and now their neighbors are going to go back to being normal toward them until next year? This was a film that could really explore human nature but settled with cookie-cutter stranger-at-the-door.

      64. Michael kruger November 24, 2013 at 6:50 pm

        I agree, too

Hey, I did not that there. I loved the purge.

      65. dricki (@dudewtfever) November 26, 2013 at 12:24 am

for me it was definitely the purge. it just seemed like they put all of the good parts in the preview and i know thats the point f a preview to put your best parts to make people want ot come and see your movie it was like those were the only good parts. i had the exact same experience with the devil inside. i remember watching the preview with my mom and we were debating on whether or not we would see it and saying oh i mean these cant be the only good parts of the movie right? well boy were we wrong. instead of me wondering whats gonna happen next and being actually interested in the plot i was just wondering oh when will this part of the trailer happen? i was so excited and the ending made me want to punch myself in the throat. great concept just horribly executed.

      66. RQOH November 26, 2013 at 1:13 am

Evil Dead remake…I was SO disappointed, it exhausted my soul.

      67. Michael kruger November 26, 2013 at 3:30 am

Mama was the worst. It was going great, entail the ending. The ending was VERY dumb.

        • Michael kruger November 26, 2013 at 3:33 am

Oh yeah, and sharknado. Very dumb

      68. michiel November 27, 2013 at 12:06 am

“The Frankenstein Theory” was incredibly boring, as was “absence” and “smiley”. I really wanted to like “Europa Report” but that didn’t happen! Didn’t enjoy “Fright Night 2″ either! I LOVED evil dead and Insidious 2, eventhough I am a 41 y.o. horror fan and adore the classics, to each his own! :) Don’t drag other people down for their own personal taste! Not everyone has such good taste as I have…I can’t be mad at them!! :)

      69. Thomas November 27, 2013 at 5:52 am

Texas Chainsaw 3D was horrible! At least Evil Dead was entertaining and liked by gore fans.

      70. Robert Saunders November 27, 2013 at 5:07 pm

The Purge. What an awful mess.

      71. Ami November 29, 2013 at 5:20 am

Mama. God I’d rather gouge my eyes out than be forced to watch that again!

      72. Ami November 29, 2013 at 5:24 am

Texas Chainsaw 3D as well! Do your thing cuz! Are you kidding me?! That line ruined it for me.

      73. lovelymia December 2, 2013 at 6:08 pm

Texas Chainsaw 3D or ABCs Of Death!

      74. A.H. December 3, 2013 at 2:21 pm

Texas Chainsaw 3D, a horrible take on the story (almost offensive). Also, one of the most idiotic “twists” I’ve ever watched on screen. The fact that it will get a sequel scares me…

      75. Jesse Aimola December 4, 2013 at 5:18 pm

I bought American Mary on blu ray waited over a month to watch it. As the tension built waiting to see this movie and having to buy a blu ray player so I could even watch it in the first place, you can tell I must have been pretty excited to watch it when I finally had the chance. So I decided to wait an extra day and watch Maniac first that I had also bought for blu ray and I gotta say I was impressed and frightened. Then the next night I popped in American Mary and the first thing I thought when it was over was why is this on the Best Horror Movies Of 2013, sorry to say fans of the film I hated it with a passion. If your looking for a copy of the movie on blu ray there’s one in my garbage only been used once.

Not everyone liked the movie. I thought it was ‘ok’ but not great.

        • Steve December 13, 2013 at 12:58 am

      76. Matt (@PhantomPlacebo) December 6, 2013 at 8:03 pm

Sharknado and Haunting in Connecticut 2 (I enjoyed it but can understand why it sucks lol) oh and Last Exorcism Part 2….complete cash in

        • Michael kruger December 17, 2013 at 2:33 am

          1. Sharknado is the worst
          2. Haunting in Connecticut 2 was good, but the ending was clearly not based on a true story.
          3. Last exorcism 2 was okay.

      77. Lucas December 7, 2013 at 8:47 am

Definitely don’t agree that Mama deserves a place on this list but Texas chainsaw 3D was a major let down & by far the worst!!! bad acting and crap movie they should of continued with the story And family from the first remake. at least they were creepy!

      78. taralundrigan December 10, 2013 at 12:49 am

Sharknado. THAT is a movie that deserves to be on a list like this…The Taking that is a pretty lame horror film as well. Bait, Detention of the Dead, Fresh Meat – all equally horrible films.

I just have to state that some of the movies people are voting for, well it’s ridiculous. To label the remake of Evil Dead as the worst horror of 2013 is not right. You might not like the movie, but it by NO MEANS deserves to be on a list like this. There is a difference between something not being your style, and a movie truly being horrible. Stop being HATERS. American Mary was a good film, I didn’t like The Purge either but it certainly wasn’t the worst movie I have seen. Would You Rather, The Conjuring, and Magic Magic definitely don’t belong on this list either. When I see comments like that, all I see is people who don’t like horror to begin with.

      79. Redrumpanda December 10, 2013 at 7:34 am

I have a damn high tolerance but Last Exorcism 2 and Unaware were awful. Still you gotta hand out the Golden Turkey to The Purge. Now, I’m a big Horror fan and I understand that other people liked it but not even the most inept, badly put together indie film could match how much of a failure The Purge was. It had a great premise and I really wanted to explore how the purge came about, what was this world we were (or, really, are) living in? Who are the forefathers that thought this was a good idea? Instead I got a retread of any other Home Invasion movie with some quirky rules thrown in.

That’s why I vote The Purge, it was basically a piece of Trust In Your Government To Keep You Safe Propaganda, which squandered it’s premise

But, if we just ignore the Hollywood crap and focus on proper small budget films, You Can’t Kill Stephen King almost put me to sleep

      80. En Wade. (@dalecooper_) December 12, 2013 at 8:30 pm

        Friday the 13 remake.
I know it didn’t come out this year, but its awfulness transcends the concept of time as we know it.

      81. Rafael December 13, 2013 at 9:51 pm

I think that ‘The Frankenstein Theory’, ‘Stripped’ and ‘Gallowwalkers’ are by far the worst movies I’ve seen this year. But ‘The Purge’ was a huge let down! It was sold as a dystopian future kind of thing and delivered as a cheesy, full of flaws, Straw Dogs-like home invasion flick.

      82. alitabattleangel December 14, 2013 at 1:48 pm

“Stoker”. Not a single doubt about it.

      83. Susan December 14, 2013 at 10:52 pm

Insidious 2 and the glory movie of all time EVIL DEAD SO MUCH BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD

      84. shaun December 15, 2013 at 3:20 am

probably Mama, though it’s also hard to choose between The purge and Insidious 2, I ended up skipping through most of Insidious 2 just to get it over with so i didn’t waste any more of my life.

      85. djseeley December 16, 2013 at 1:46 am

Texas Chainsaw 3D, You’re Next and …The Last Exorcism II

      86. Michael kruger December 17, 2013 at 2:14 am

Here is my top five best and worst horror movies of 2013:
        Top 5 best:
        1. Insidious Chapter 2
        2. The conjuring
        3. The purge
        4. Apartment 1303
        5. Haunter

        Top 5 worst:
        1. Sharknado
        2. Ghost shark
        3. Mama
        4. Evil dead
        5. The resurrected

Nothing left to fear would have 6 on the best list, while last exorcism part 2 would have been six on the worst list.

        • Michael kruger December 30, 2013 at 3:52 am

The resurrected is the wrong movie. It is called a resurrection.

      87. Mackenzie December 17, 2013 at 6:15 pm

American Mary sucked I wish I could delete it from my memory and get cash back

      88. Rivette December 22, 2013 at 9:13 pm

        Mama

      89. Steve December 23, 2013 at 9:42 pm

American Mary was the one of the best movies of the year whats with all the Hate the twins make great movies I love them there so nice in person to.

      90. Teej December 26, 2013 at 10:28 am

The Purge. I didn’t even love to hate it, I just hated it. Decent concepts were mishmashed together to create a bland liberal propaganda-like piece of garbage. When every single main character consistently made the most idiotic decision possible at every point, I started to feel more empathy for the mask toting axe murderers. Also, the twist at the end was like a premature eja..ending that instantly deflated any leftover suspense from the home invasion scenario. It just got awkward after that.

      91. Midnite Marauder December 27, 2013 at 2:50 am

Time to weigh in on this one….. I’ll spit it up between big-budget theatrical releases and direct to video or PPV video streaming:

        Worst Theatrical Release

        5. (tie) 6 Souls / Aftershock
        4. The Last Exorcism II
        3. Texas Chainsaw 3D
        2. The Purge
        1. Lords of Salem

        Worst Direct-to-Video/PPV Stream

        10. Do Not Disturb
        9. Ghost Shark (SyFy)
        8. Zombie Hunter
        7. Battledogs
        6. Gallowwalkers
        5. Spiders
        4. The Frankenstein Theory
        3. Axe Giant
        2. Airborne
        1. Infected

There you have it folks…..2013 is almost ready to go in the books.

      92. Havok December 27, 2013 at 4:18 am

Gotta agree with the thought that Texas Chainsaw 3d was the worst. It started off great and then turned into one big mess. Easily my most disappointing watch if the year.

      93. A.Jaye December 27, 2013 at 11:42 am

Insidious Chapter 2 gets my vote.

      94. Michael Allen December 27, 2013 at 11:16 pm

These films all sucked: Sick Boy, House of Good and Evil, and Dark Feed. These were completely unwatchable.

      95. Kajsa December 28, 2013 at 6:40 am

        Stoker was beautiful!
For me the worst horror movies are the ones i turn off and do not have the slightest curiosity in my body or brain to see how it ends.
I started to watch the purge, got angry, fell asleep, woke up and turned it off long before it ended.
But then a couple of days later I did watch it to the end and I did love the photo and my mind could get inspiring thoughts and even though the film didn’t scare me the least I could enjoy something about it. That for me is an ok film.
I have to say I don’t remember the films I didn’t have the patience to watch til the end.

      96. socrfan December 28, 2013 at 7:56 pm

Lords of Salem, among a few others, stunk the place up. Though some debate whether it was a horror movie or not I really enjoyed World War Z. There’s still room for good horror movies but I think part of the problem is it’s getting harder to scare people because everything has been done a million times over. Maybe that’s why movies are so full of frustrating clichés is because they’re running out of ideas. Just my 2 cents.

      97. Banshee101 December 29, 2013 at 8:31 am

        The Purge! Texas Chainsaw 3D!

      98. CaseyArrr December 30, 2013 at 6:28 am

Lords of Salem. Such a horrible waste of time.
Mama was cool up until halfway, there on out it sucked. Except that little girl. She was creepy and awesome.
Sharknado was terrible, but I think that’s because it was suppose to be. So in that case it was quite amusing.
I love the story of Carrie, but the re-make was a little cheesy. I was hoping for more gore. Oh and the actress who played Carrie was way too pretty for her supposed character.

I DID like The Purge, Insidious 2, The Conjuring, and You’re Next. Yeah they weren’t perfect, some over hyped, some could’ve been a little better, but they all packed some good scares and had interesting plots/twists.

      99. Jim VanBebber December 30, 2013 at 3:10 pm

Definitely a toss up between Texas 3D and The Purge. Both took great ideas and turned them into political pieces. Typical liberal, anti-white, Hollywood garbage. Don’t believe me? Watch them again.

      100. kr8zycracker January 1, 2014 at 10:01 am

Evil Dead remake it tried so hard but failed so miserably.

      101. Zachary January 1, 2014 at 7:53 pm

        Texas Chainsaw 3D!

      102. Pete Howard January 2, 2014 at 12:34 am

Wow, there’s a lot of different opinions here and it surprises me that so many disliked films like Insidious 2, The Purge and Evil Dead! I mean they weren’t great, but they were still pretty solid horrors.

I hope Sharknado isn’t included in this list or only gets an honorable mention – because the point of that movie is that it’s supposed to appease those who like watching B-grade films like Sharktopus haha.

As far as 2013 goes I think we have had a pretty decent year in Horror. The only one that really sticks out for me was ‘The ABC’s of Death’. I was really excited by the concept, expecting another ‘VHS’ kind of scenario but nothing from A-Z impressed! I can’t really remember but i think there was like a fart zombie one, which i know was trying to do the same thing as ‘Sharknado’ and make people laugh but fart jokes infuriate me haha.

Best Horror of 2013 – Sinister – The soundtrack alone!!!

      103. gabrielc January 2, 2014 at 11:42 am

‘Warm bodies’. Sick to see it figuring in some major’s website horror’s top 10.
