When the “Curse of Chucky” was announced the decision to make it a direct-to-DVD sequel left many wondering about the sustainability of the killer doll franchise. Was Chucky now a relic of times gone by? Not by a long shot.
Despite not having a theatrical release, the “Curse of Chucky” still did very well in the blu-ray market. Perhaps it was because it had a well-timed release in October or because horror fans were itching for a new Chucky, but the maniacal doll managed to claw it’s way into the top of the sale charts. So with the interest in Chucky still running strong, it looks as if we’re going to get another sequel.
Earlier today Don Mancini, director and writer of the Chucky franchise, took to Twitter to slyly hint that there is another sequel on the way. I’m not sure if a project has been greenlit yet or if Don is simply announcing his desire to make another movie in the series, but either way, there appears to be movement on the project.
So where do you want to see the Chucky franchise go next? Don’t say space, I just know one of you is going to say space.
