Rosemary’s Baby Remake Begins Filming January 2014

Herner Klenthur

Back in July word came out that NBC was working on a remake of Rosemary’s Baby according to Deadline. NBC was also working on a remake of Stephen Kings Tommyknockers which is easily one of the worst books to be adapted to TV so far.

Long before NBC was working on a remake of Rosemary’s Baby Platinum Dunes the folks behind some of the most profitable modern horror remakes were also planning to remake it. Both the NBC and Platinum Dunes plans have died. But fear not astute horror fans LionsGate has stepped up to the plate and is now prepared to help NBC do what Platinum Dunes could not. They are going to remake Rosemary’s Baby as a 4 part mini series and filming begins in January.

Woo hoo! [ Wait… not really]

 According to The Hollywood Reporter the project will be based in Paris and will be as noted a 4 part mini series with the twist being the new location and no doubt a sexy and dapper 20 something cast. NBC Entertainment President told THR quote;

“As we move into the event movie and miniseries space, Rosemary’s Baby represents the kind of attention-getting, surprising project that will make noise for us,” NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said. “The story has been updated and moved to Paris, but it’s faithful to the spirit of Ira Levin’s classic novel. This is a compelling tale wonderfully told.”

The 1968 feature film by the controversial and talented Roman Polanski is about a married couple who soon discover that their pregnancy and new neighbors have some scary motives.

What do you think of this remake?

Just Lame of closed minds to fear such tribute to classics now this is a movie where time has changed all around it but it stays the same. why not a new chapter like Evil Dead an other fact can not wait for her baby to be all nasty and the mating between her and beast will be nasty just wow bring fear back to the story not just say uh I can star in this watch and remember this is our kids time so they will be all scared the way we once were!!!

Remake films that sucked but had potential!! Not classics that stand the test of time. These remakes ruin the unique quality of these films.

As IF anyone could top the original. Ruth Gordon’s fabulous performance! And if you haven’t read the book….the book is PRECISELY the screenplay to even the detail of the elevator operator having to adjust when he gets to the floor as the agent is taking the Woodhouses to see the apartment. And the Time Magazine cover GOD IS DEAD was also a real thing!
In the age of the internet Rosemary could never be so worried and/or manipulated about her pregnancy UNLESS it were set in the backwoods of Apalachia! Superstition and the mystery of Satanism does not exist in the way it once did! And remaking it as a PERIOD piece?!?! That is a cash-grabbing, cynical and transparent reason to remake this classic.
Did these filmmaking transgressors learn NOTHING from The Omen remake?!?! And THAT original, while wonderful, doesn’t rise to the artistry of Rosemary’s Baby!
If they wanna make a movie let ’em make a Behind The Scenes film about the MAKING of Rosemary’s Baby! THAT would be heart-breaking and interesting AT LEAST. Frank Sinatra being a jealous douche bag and Roman’s wife and unborn son murdered!
        Distasteful yes, but original.

      25. Charles Michael December 11, 2013 at 2:50 am

Idiots…like Carrie, Chainsaw Massacre and I spit on ur grave..

      27. Jonathan William Rayborn December 11, 2013 at 3:01 am

Keith Patrick Dunn that is a brilliant idea. Now that would be an original idea!

      28. Jay Franklin December 11, 2013 at 3:06 am

Oh my plastic baby jeebus. Stop with remakes.

      29. Shawn S. Tuscher December 11, 2013 at 3:18 am

I guess its about time for me to take my old sniper rifle out of retirement. My baby and I have stopped the production of sequels to Con Air, Forrest Gump and the remakes of Alice Sweet Alice, Chinatown.

      33. Sarah Huschke December 11, 2013 at 3:30 am

What?! Why?! Are there really no creative writers left? Get some new blood, Hollywood. You’re going to end up running out of films to remake and ruin.

The two thousands and the two thousand and tens will forever be known as the decades of the remakes and sequels/prequels.

So appreciate the Fifties, the Sixties, the Seventies and the Eighties. Because you won’t see a more awesome decade than those. Yes. I understand that remakes, sequels and three-dimensional films have been around for years. However, the market today’s diluted with so many of these films that the quality’s apt to suffer. That is, for every good remake, there’s ten other terrible remakes. The good doesn’t offset the bad. If you won’t stop making remakes, than make better remakes.

Please just stick to messing up the Friday the 13th and Text Chainsaw names further. Leave the untouched classics alone.

The people who know the original will despise the remake, for new audiences the name will hold little meaning. pointless.

What, with taylor swift as rosemary? not only will we see the baby, it’ll crawl out of the black taffeta crib and kill the castevettes. all of the women in it will talk like salesgirls working at Forever 21. I can’t take it.
