Showtime Debuts a Teaser for Penny Dreadful

Jason McDonald

While Showtime’s “Penny Dreadful” won’t launch on the network until some time in Spring 2014, we still haven’t seen too much from the series.  Even the latest teaser trailer gives us only the briefest of glimpses.  It’ll have to do… for now.

The new series from Oscar-nominee writer John Logan (“Sweeney Todd” and “Skyfall”) takes an interesting look at classic literary characters- Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Grey, Mina Harker, and more- by placing them all together in Victorian London.  And we all know that whenever you place so many Victorina characters together, psychosexual terror is bound to take place.

The cable series will star Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton, Eva Green, Billie Piper, Rory Kinnear, and more.  Juan Antonio Bayona, the director of “The Orphanage”, will direct the first two episodes of the eight-part series.  Journey down below to check out the teaser.

Um…. So what? This is less a teaser and more of an announcement. “Hey! We want to compete with American Horror Story!”

It better be good. American Horror Story set the bar kind of high for the cable tv horror genre.
