First Casting News for The Conjuring Spin-off ‘Annabelle’

Chris Savage

Conjuring bYou guys all know how well The Conjuring did, it just exploded when it hit theatres. Of course, many like it and equally many dislike it, but when there is money to be made expect more from what looks set to be a new franchise.

So, it was recently announced that Annabelle, a spin-off to the movie The Conjuring was in the works and today we have just scored the first casting details.

According to The Wrap, Annabelle Wallis and Ward Horton are cast as the leads in the upcoming film. John Leonetti, who served as the cinematographer on The Conjuring, is directing from a script by Gary Dauberman.

Peter Safran is set to produce, while James Wan serves as one of the executive producers.

And that’s it, for now at least. So what do you think about the choice of casting and of course what are your opinions on the spin-off?

are they going to base the film around the actual case of the Annabelle doll – kind of taking what was at the beginning of The Conjuring and expanding on it? or are they creating something original?.. i really hope it’s the former – plus i would like to see Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson return in cameos as Ed and Lorraine Warren..

but something tells me i’m going to be disappointed..

Dude your awesome. My exact thoughts on this as well I hope they make this film as authentic as possible and use the exact same actors to further the stories and shot follow more cases they had!

Funny how James Wan ( whom I adore as a filmmaker) just had to make the doll his version of visibly creepy. I think it would’ve been creepier to keep the original Raggedy Ann doll.

The dumb doll gets a movie? Why not ask Lorraine Warren about maybe another thing that happened. I’m sure something else interesting has happened. This premise has been done to death.

I agree with the first few peeps. I hope it follows the same story that introduced us to the Warrens at the beginning of, one of my favourite horror films of last year, The Conjuring. I know that Hollywood loves a good cash cow and I hope they put more effort into the next installment than they did with Paranormal Activity and the Saw franchises. The acting from The Conjuring was what made it so effective so let’s hope the key players return and a good script is produced. If James Wan won’t direct, hopefully he can take John Leonetti under his wing and give him a few tips. I am looking forward to seeing what Annabelle has to offer. Who knows, it may surprise us

I was underwhelmed by “The Conjuring”. :/ It was good, but there was too much going on. And I’m not sure what was “conjured”, exactly. Anyways, if “Annabelle” can explain – or continue – some of the back story stuff (THAT FRIGGIN’ DOLL) then it may be pretty cool.

Bought the bluray edition a few weeks ago, because of the hype surrounding the movie over the net suggesting it was one of the creepiest movies in a long time, after watching the movie
with lights out this type of movie has been done before, what’s behind the door, in the bedroom,
upstairs, in the closet, in the cellar, not really sure what to think of it all in all not bad
