Hannibal Has Cast Michael Pitt as Mason Verger

Jason McDonald

It looks as if NBC’s “Hannibal” is diving even further into the the mythos of the iconic cannibalistic doctor.  Earlier this month we told you that Katharine Isabelle was joining the cast as Margot, one of Hannibal’s troubled patients. Now the cast has grown a bit larger with an addition of another patient.

Mason Verger, the horribly disfigured man that appeared in the film version of “Hannibal”, will be seeing Dr. Lecter this season.  Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Michael Pitt, who appeared in “Boardwalk Empire” and “Funny Games”, will play the wealthy patient with a dark and disgusting past.  Since this series is a prequel, we will be seeing Mason while he’s still youthful and handsome looking.  You can expect to see his character appear towards the end of season two.

“Hannibal” returns to NBC on February 28th.
