Jurassic World Begins Shooting, No Sam Neil as Dr Grant?

Herner Klenthur

JurassicWorldJurassic World the latest film in the Jurassic Park film franchise is getting ready to shoot. Jurassic World which stars Ty Simpkins, Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson, and Chris Pratt. and is directed by Colin Trevorrow will begin shooting in Louisiana in June.

This will give them exactly one year to shoot the film and have it ready for its June 15th  2015 release date.

The film was originally rumored to be a remake but the director really is not a fan of that wording. When asked by a fan whether the film is a remake / reboot of the original Jurassic Park movies he replied;

Reboot is a strong word. This is a new sci-fi terror adventure set 22 years after the horrific events of Jurassic Park.

So the movie is based 22 years after the original but still not entirely clear if it will be a remake or a brand new story. Sam Neill was rumored to be returning to reprise his role as Dr Grant but Jason has revealed that seems to no longer be the case in an article he wrote last week.

While speaking with the Chico Movie Examiner, actor Sam Neill (Dr. Grant in Jurassic Park 1 and 3) was asked if he’d be up for a cameo in the new “Jurassic World”, to which he replied:

Look, you never say no. I think there’s a whole new cast and a whole new look at things, and I think that’s great. As I said, I’d never say no, but I wish them… well, I’m sure it’s going to be great, but they don’t need me.

I am a big fan of Jurassic Park and hope that Jurassic World will be a success but I cant help but feel, why do we need another one? Furthermore I would really like to see Sam Neill return even if in only a small role for the nostalgia factor. Doing so would please fans of the originals and not hamper the story in any way.

As far as plot goes rumors have it this might be a ‘Disney World’ event more so then a world taken over by dinosaurs scenario.

Earlier in the year there were some strong rumors that Jurassic World would be based in a fully operational and completed dinosaur park ala ‘Jurassic World’. Of course just like in the first one nothing will go right and the Dinosaurs will soon rule the park, people will die, things will pop out in 3D and I again come back to I am not sure why we really need this!
