The Next Season of American Horror Story to be a Period Piece?

The Next Season of American Horror Story to be a Period Piece? Are you guys watching this season’s American Horror Story? I’m thoroughly enjoying it, in fact I’ve liked all the seasons thus far expect for the brief moment involving aliens in Asylum. So, what about the next season? Well, we know that it is official, but just what could we expect?

FX Network president John Landgraf tells TV Guide via Twitter, that the next season of American Horror Story could well be a period piece in which most of the cast are set to return.

So what would you like to see in the next season?

American Horror Story: Coven tells the secret history of witches and witchcraft in America. Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.

Werewolves. Let it be a who-done-it. We won’t know who the killer werewolf is until half through the season and then the rest of the episodes them trying to find out whom among them is the werewolf.

Next season I really want Jessica Lange to return. I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I haven’t heard her name until season 1 of AHS started. The only movie I’ve seen of hers I King Kong I think. She needs to be in more horror movies!!!

This season started really strong, but I feel like it is going all over the place now.

****SPOILERS for Season 1 and 3****

Feels a little but like season 1 when characters were getting killed left and right, but returning as ghosts. Except this time they aren’t ghosts. Feels like anybody that dies is not actually dead and we’ll see them in an episode or two. I don’t like that, but I wonder if that will be resolved in the conclusion. Like perhaps the witch that brings them back can control them all to take over the world or something.

Still hoping for a strong finish.

If you really want to see Jessica Lange act, see her Academy Award nominated performance in Frances (1982)., based upon the actress Frances Farmer.

I lost interest in the beginning of this season…it got a little to cheesy and I felt this season was aimed for the female audiences

        • Debbie January 15, 2014 at 4:34 pm

          Not this female though!

        • Phil Greco January 15, 2014 at 8:31 pm

I felt the same way, but after this Voodoo priest came along my interest has peaked back up. I thought the zombie episode was fantastic.

Hated this last season. Too much BS.

*Not reading ‘Coven’ descriptor due to not being able to see it yet.*

Hmm..I’d LOVE something set in Victorian times! :D My second choice would be something set back during the Neolithic age, but I don’t know what’s horrific about that besides ‘Raptor attacks.

Addendum: Do…do people here in the comments not know what a “period piece” is..? O_o

Also, I wouldn’t mind knowing more about those aliens. They were just kind of…there. Then not. It was weird.

        Matthew Drinkwine…?

      11. Matthew Drinkwine January 15, 2014 at 8:18 pm

Old school Traveling Circus Nicole Olson??

      12. Phil Greco January 15, 2014 at 8:27 pm

With the popularity of Game of Thrones, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it take place around that era. This season has been my favorite, so far.

      13. Nicole Olson January 15, 2014 at 8:34 pm

        Absolutely Matthew Drinkwine :)

Maybe I’ll give it a second try

I heard the next season could focus on a Circus. Although I always imagine American Horror Story should make a season focused in a prison.
        AHS: PRISON

        Sounds good huh?

      16. Jen January 15, 2014 at 9:09 pm

Well, they’ve covered everything from ghosts, killers, possession, aliens, Frankenstein, zombies. The only things they haven’t covered are werewolves and Vampires. It’s SO hard to do those justice though and not make it cheesey.
At first I thought, what if they do like seventies “Charles Mansion type” cult thing but make it more evil and intense but then it may be to close to the witch and coven thing.

This website keeps deleting my comments. I was just trying to point out that the writer needs to be aware of spoilers in their posts.

The only good season was the first season.

      19. Zac Erickson January 16, 2014 at 12:41 am

        Agreed

      20. Kartik Chand January 16, 2014 at 10:20 pm

Yah but werewolves and vampires, Hemlock Grove has already done a very nice mystery modern day twist on it. Circus sounds good though

      21. Whipper Snapper January 16, 2014 at 10:25 pm

Maybe something in Ancient Rome w/the Gods. Or 19th Century London.

        • Guss January 17, 2014 at 4:56 am

Well the hint was pretty clear to us. The story will be focusing on the Nazis. Probably Germany in the 1950s.

      22. jenn January 17, 2014 at 1:09 am

not really into season 3, coven. witches have never really interested me. i used to be big into true blood till the witch storyline came about, then i stopped watching that for awhile too. overall, love this show…but hey… i don’t care what the next season is about – just bring back zachary quinto to the show :) he was fantastic as bloodyface in asylum

      23. MsAtomicBomb January 17, 2014 at 5:28 am

They should do one on the ILLUMINATI and all their devious plans that have played out. From orgies to sacrifices, its all there ready to be deciphered & witnessed by those with open eyes ;)

      24. moses January 27, 2014 at 5:37 pm

I read an article that stated that jessica lange is already working on her German accent and that its a 1950s time era.
