Robert Kirkman Reveals Walking Dead Alien Invasion Twist!

Herner Klenthur 62 Comments Movie Page: The Walking Dead

Legendary comic creator Robert Kirkman has revealed a plot twist for The Walking Dead that is so unexpected it is also the only reason that Jim Valentino of Image Comics decided to take on the graphic novel.

In the video interview above from The Hollywood Reporter Robert Kirkman talks about the genesis of The Walking Dead and how through a series of easter eggs the final outcome of the zombie apocalypse is actually an Alien Invasion.

The Walking Dead comics are laying out the framework for an alien invasion. Or are they?

If the shark fits, jump it!

      2. Smith January 1, 2014 at 7:13 pm

And this is why I think Kirkman is a tool. Aliens is the only way I see the tvshow lasting. There is a reason why zombie movies never go past 2 hrs. Cause he is gonna run out of story. You can only send the people out for meds so many times til it just becomes boring.

      3. Mith Besler January 1, 2014 at 7:15 pm

Unless I missed it. Robert lied just to get the book created. And when asked where the aliens were he admitted he lied and there would be no aliens. Seen many good Zombie books go wrong by bringing in the alien factor. Dead Earth is about the only one I have read that was able to pull it off.

But thank god no aliens in the walking dead.

      4. Kelli Klein January 1, 2014 at 7:42 pm

        Please no aliens

Well…I keep hearing that, so I know I’ll try it again eventually. Thanks for replying, btw. I was frustrated at how few zombies there were per episode vs. interpersonal conflict, but I’ve definitely heard its gotten good again. Happy New Year.

      18. Tim Brown January 1, 2014 at 7:55 pm

        Perhaps a space virus?

      19. Stephanie Hilker January 1, 2014 at 7:56 pm

well if you people would have watched the interview instead of just commenting you would know this is a farce.

      20. Stephen A. Haight January 1, 2014 at 7:56 pm

Even Kirkman says this isnt true.

      22. Keith Rouse January 1, 2014 at 7:58 pm

Wait, i just checked the calendar. It’s January 1st. Not April 1st!

      23. Dank one January 1, 2014 at 8:01 pm

It’s actually based entirely on a book called Gullibles Travels.

      24. Michael Hamreus January 1, 2014 at 8:03 pm

        And pigs really do fly!

      25. Adam Myles January 1, 2014 at 8:05 pm

HA! funny enough, issue 75 of the comics covered this in a dream that Rick had after being knocked unconscious. He waked up and finds the governor as a half cyborg, and Lori still alive and that Aliens have actually attacked. LOL. It was a bonus part tot he comic, but it was funny.

      26. Audrey Evans January 1, 2014 at 8:15 pm

        That would be interesting

      27. Demas Dino Mireles January 1, 2014 at 8:21 pm

        such a big mistake
that would suck so hard core

      28. Railey Garman January 1, 2014 at 8:28 pm

        I think I’ll stop watching…

      29. Dave Newman January 1, 2014 at 8:39 pm

I hope this is an attempt to create a new “April Fools”. More than likely this show will probably try to have an alien crossover, and try to be serious about it.

      30. Tristan Zombi January 1, 2014 at 8:57 pm

What a joke! This would work in a shitty 80′s B-Movie. That’s it.

      31. Nick Gardiner January 1, 2014 at 9:05 pm

        God I hope not…

      32. Wilber Peñate January 1, 2014 at 9:14 pm

      35. Craig D Lewis January 1, 2014 at 9:33 pm

Actually no, this was a prank he pulled a few years ago. He said if he made it to issue 75 he would reveal that it was all aliens. So when they got there he came through with his promise and in the last 5 pages or so that’s what happened. But it was a joke, it wasn’t canon and things returned to normal the next issue

      36. Isaac Cordova January 1, 2014 at 10:42 pm

I would like them to do it, just to see how people freak out. haha

      37. D.l. Irick January 1, 2014 at 10:57 pm

jim valentino said he hadn’t heard of an alien-zombie connection anywhere. i guess he hadn’t read stephen king’s “home delivery” or watched the part in “night of the living dead” about the downed satellite? glad it was all a ruse, though.

      38. Lisa LaRock January 1, 2014 at 11:59 pm

I’ll stop watching if this is true

      39. Al Lister Crowley January 2, 2014 at 12:51 am

Plan 9; The reviving of the dead to take over the world! OH NO! Wait a minute. Zombies can be kinda hot.

      40. Robbie LeBlanc January 2, 2014 at 1:14 am

Link bait. If this happens they’ll lose way to much of a fan base including the actors themselves.

      41. jimmykitty January 2, 2014 at 1:17 am

It’s sad that many people who are commenting can’t watch a * 2 minute and 20 second* interview before commenting knee-jerk reactions.
