After years of on again/off again development the next “Jurassic Park” sequel finally got it’s act together last year with a brand new director and title. Now the film is undergoing the arduous task of assembling a cast, but there might be one man who won’t be making a return trip to the land of dinosaurs.
While speaking with the Chico Movie Examiner, actor Sam Neill (Dr. Grant in Jurassic Park 1 and 3) was asked if he’d be up for a cameo in the new “Jurassic World”, to which he replied:
Look, you never say no. I think there’s a whole new cast and a whole new look at things, and I think that’s great. As I said, I’d never say no, but I wish them… well, I’m sure it’s going to be great, but they don’t need me.
For you Dr. Grant fanboys/fangirls out there, the good news is that Sam Neill didn’t say “no” to the idea. However, it doesn’t sound like anyone has approached him about the upcoming sequel either. Or he could be keeping mum about a surprise cameo. It’s too early to say, but as for him playing a large part in “Jurassic World”. . . it doesn’t look good.
From a character standpoint, it would make sense that Dr. Grant wouldn’t go near anything related to Jurassic Park again. Part three got away with the excuse of Grant being tempted to go by a large sum of money, but you can only do that once before Grant starts to look like a greedy fool.
What say you? Would you want to see Grant return and if so how would you get him to the island?
“Jurassic World” is due out in theaters on June 12, 2015.
