It seemed like a certainty that “The Conjuring” would be given the sequel treatment after it proved to be a hit at the box office. Such is the fate of all horror movies that manage to generate mass appeal. And while we’ve known that a sequel was coming for a while now, we didn’t know when it would happen.
But now we do! Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. has announced release dates for a number of projects they have in development. Among them include “The Conjuring 2” which is set for release on October 23, 2015. Thankfully, they aren’t trying to rush out a sequel by the end of this year.
Also of note is an untitled horror project from New Line which has been given the release date of October 3rd of this year. There are virtually no details about what this project is, but it will be in theaters eight months from now, so it must already be in development. Some are speculating that it could be “The Conjuring” spin-off “Annabelle” or New Line’s “Crawlspace”, which hasn’t been mentioned for a while now.
