The movie adaptation of the R.L. Stine series “Goosebumps”is moving forward with the addition of another actor. It was previously reported that Jack Black was set to portray the infamous writer who spawned the young adult book series. Now we know who will co-star in the film with him.
Variety is reporting that Dylan Minnette (last seen in “The Prisoners”) will play a new neighbor who moves in next to R.L. Stine. Here’s how Variety describes the film:
Story is loosely based on the series and follows Minnette’s character who moves from New York City to the small town of Greendale, Maryland, where his secretive new neighbor turns out to be veteran young adult horror author R.L. Stine (Black). When all the many demons of Stine’s mind are set free by Slappy, a demonic ventriloquist’s dummy, it’s up to Minnette’s character and Stine’s niece Hannah to put all the evil genies back in the bottle.
Odeya Rush also stars in the film which is being directed by Rob Letterman. The project is currently working off a script written by Darren Lemke (“Jack the Giant Slayer”) and Mike White who has written numerous Jack Black films like: “School of Rock”, “Nacho Libre”, and “Orange County”.
