Scream Factory’s Blu-Ray Artwork for Lake Placid

Jason McDonald

Is “Lake Placid” a well liked movie? I know I enjoyed it when I was younger.  It was a sort of dumbed down “Jaws” with Betty White before she re-established herself as a pop icon.  I’m curious to see how other people remember it though.

If you had fond feelings for the film, like I did, then you’ll be excited to know that Scream Factory is putting out a blu-ray collector’s edition of the film this July.  And while there aren’t many details about what the blu-ray will have, we now have a look at the new artwork that’ll be featured on the cover. Here’s how the Scream Factory describes the piece:

We wanted something humorous – but not over-the-top – for this dark comedy and artist Robert “Kung Fu Bob” O’Brien (making his Scream Factory debut with us) came through with this clever approach that went over very well here in the office. As always, the reverse side of the wrap will have the original theatrical poster which sports the big-open-reptile mouth that most remember.

Pre-orders are expected to start in April along with the opportunity to purchase the blu-ray cover as a poster. Expect to hear more details about the film’s features in May.

Only saw bits and pieces. I’ ve always enjoyed a good big-monster-eats-tons-of-people movie, though.

It’s a fun and good movie. It’s not a “dumbed down JAWS” at all. It’s very clever, with a lot of chemistry that makes the fast and snarky dialogue believable. It’s one of my all time favorites, with some seriously awesome one liners.
