MTV Announces Horror Nominees for Movie Awards

Jason McDonald

Earlier this week MTV announced that their 2014 Movie Awards will be taking place on April 13th live from the Nokia Center in Los Angeles, California.  Hosting their annual award show will be Conan O’Brien who is, honestly, probably a perfect match for this kind of award show.  I wonder if they’ll bring back Triumph: The Insult Comic Dog.

Today MTV has released the full list of nominees for the upcoming award show.  As with previous MTV Movie Award shows, viewers can vote on their favorite films and actors by checking out the official site.  There you can also view the full list of nominees and categories.  It’s a bit strange to see “12 Years a Slave” in the same category as “The Hunger Games”, but it is what it is.

For our purposes, we’ll be listing the horror films/actors who are up for awards right here.  “This is the End” is up for best fight which features Jonah Hill vs Seth Rogen and James Franco. The “Best Scared as Shit Performance” category features numerous horror selections.  Among them include Rose Byrne in “Insidious: Chapter 2”, Jessica Chastain in “Mama”, Vera Farmiga in “The Conjuring”, Ethan Hawke in “The Purge”, and Brad Pitt in “World War Z.”

“This is the End” has also racked up a few other nominations in various categories including “#WTF Moment”, “Best Musical Moment”, and “Best Cameo Performance.”  To check out the rest of the nominees or to vote on your favorite film, be sure to visit the official MTV Movie Awards website. The show kicks off on April 13th on MTV.
