‘Sinister 2′ Finds a New Director

While much of “Sinister 2″ is underwraps and underdevelopment, we do have some news to finally share with you.  Scott Derrickson’s “Sinister” hit the scene in 2012 and proved to be another Blumhouse micro-budget success. Inevitably, it was announced that the film would be receiving a sequel.  Now we know who will be helming the film.

Derrickson, the co-writer and director of the original film, announced via Twitter today that Ciaran Foy would be sitting in the director’s chair for “Sinister 2.” Ciaran is best known for his debut film “Citadel” which premiered at SXSW in 2012 and won the Midnight Audience Award.

And while Scott won’t be returning to direct the film, he and co-writer C. Robert Cargill are still writing the script for the upcoming sequel. The original film starred Ethan Hawke as an investigative journalist who stumbled upon a mysterious box containing horrific home movies.  It also featured one of the biggest jump scares I’ve experienced in a long while. You know what I’m talking about: that lawnmower scene.  Holy shit, that nearly gave me a heartattack.
