Joe Dante’s ‘Dark’ Casts Up

Joe Dantes Dark Casts UpIt has been a little silent on the whole Dark front, but today that all changes as we have just got word that the Joe Dante-produced flick has cast up a couple more names to venture into the dark unknown.

According to Variety, Michael Eklund (The Call, “Bates Motel”) and Brandon Sexton (Boys Don’t Cry) have rounded out the cast. They join the previously announced cast of Whitney Able (Monsters) and Alexandra Breckenridge (“American Horror Story”).

Filming is expected to begin this June in New York City. Nick Basile (American Carny) is directing from a script penned by Elias (Gut).

The film is also a Kickstarter success story, so a huge thanks goes to those of you who helped get this film funded. You guys rock!

SynopsisSet in NYC during the blackout of 2003, Kate, a struggling 30-something model with a troubled past, has just moved into her girlfriend Leah’s Brooklyn loft, but already doubts about their relationship have begun to loom. When Leah leaves for the weekend, Kate unexpectedly find herself alone in the apartment in the midst of the worst blackout in North American history. As darkness falls over the city, Kate’s paranoia grows and she begins to believe someone in the building is stalking her. With no one to help her and escape out of reach, Kate is forced to confront her deepest fears as she fights to survive through the night.

        After the headline, it was disappointing to read Dante is not the director. Usually when applying a possessive, that is referring to director not producer.
