Trick R’ Treat Director to Take on ‘Krampus’

Jason McDonald

Remember a couple of weeks back when we told you that Kevin Smith was working on a new horror/comedy called “Anti-Claus” which was based on the legend of the Krampus? That’s still happening, I assume.  However, now there’s another film based on the Krampus in the works.

Deadline is reporting that Michael Dougherty (“Trick r’ Treat”) has been tapped by Legendary to direct their horror/comedy “Krampus.”  Once again, no relation to the Kevin Smith project.  This one will be written by Todd Casey and Zach Shields and is similar in style to “Trick r’ Treat.”  I’m not sure if that means it’ll be turned into an anthology or if they’re talking about tone.

In the meanwhile, Michael is still working on that sequel to “Trick r’ Treat.”  While I’m interested in seeing “Krampus”, I really hope we get that sequel first.  I know, I know, I should be more excited about an original property.  But man! It’s been so long since we last saw Sam.

Wait.  I just had a thought.  What if the “Krampus” film is an anthology and the Krampus acts like an omnipresent force like Sam in “Trick r’ Treat.”  With similar characters we could potentially get some kind of crazy holiday crossover.  I’m going to start work on my fan script right now!

There was a new monthly comic released by Image comics last december called “Krampus.” I wonder if there is any relation to this comic?
