Kevin Smith Reveals His take on Horror with TUSK

Kevin Smith Reveals His take on Horror with TUSKShortly after the panel discussion with Kevin Smith about his upcoming horror film Tusk at San Diego Comic Con, many (including myself) have wondered in what “vein” the horror story would be told in. And where’s the trailer!? Well, it’s finally here and, with no previous horror movie credits, Smith recently shared his inspirations that gave him the idea of Tusk in the first place.

In an interview by FilmSchoolRejects.com, Smith admits that the film ‘pays homage and steals from The Human Centipede’ and also mentioned that it was a more ‘cuddly version’ in a podcast. From first glimpse at the trailer, one can see the stylized framing of scenes reminiscent of a John Carpenter film which he also admits is an inspiration for him in making Tusk.

Smith says that earlier on in his career, there was a reason for everything he made. Chasing Amy was an exploration of his own male insecurity in real life. And before he made Clerks, not sure if it would become a reality, he alludes that he would of made a movie like Tusk or it would of been a movie he would have gone to see in the mid 90s. Tusk will get its world-wide release set for September 19th of this year.
