‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ Finally Gets a Cast

At this point many of you might’ve forgotten that there was such a thing as “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.”  A few years ago a new trend sprung up in the literary world that involved combining classic literary tales/historical figures with monsters.  This can be mostly accredited to Seth Grahame-Smith who wrote the aforementioned “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” and “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”, which went on to become an actual movie.

Now it looks like “Pride” may finally have its time to shine as Deadline has learned that a cast is finally coming together for the project.  According to Deadline Lily James (“Downton Abbey”), Sam Riley (“Maleficent”), and Bella Heathcote (“Dark Shadows”) have been cast to star in the upcoming adaptation.

Burr Steers (“Charlie St. Cloud”) is currently directing the pic from a script he co wrote with David O. Russell (“American Hustle”).  So regardless about how you feel about the premise, you have to admit that the film has some interesting talent attached to it.

The original novel took the classic Jane Austen tale of “Pride and Prejudice” and injected a legion of the undead.  So if you’ve ever read Jane Austen’s tale, just imagine some of the emotionally charged scenes interrupted by zombie killing sprees.  It’s absurd, but it works in the context of the book and has potential to be a humorous movie.

Production is expected to start in September, so expect more casting news soon.
