Rob Zombie Has an Idea for a “Devil’s Rejects” Sequel But Don’t Get Your Hopes Up

Jason McDonald

In case you were desperately holding out hope for another film in the “House of a 1000 Corpses” series, you may want to place you optimism elsewhere.  It looks like you won’t be seeing the Firefly family anytime soon.

In an interview with Fangoria (and shared by Shock Till You Drop) Rob Zombie discussed the possibility of directing a new film in the “House of a 1000 Corpses” series.  It turns out that he actually has a new idea to further the franchise, but he might not get the chance to do it.  Here’s what he had to say:

I’ve always thought I’d like to make another movie, because I love the characters, and I have an idea I think is solid for a third one – an idea that would make sense. The problem is, I don’t own the characters now. They’re owned by Lionsgate, and they just don’t have any desire to do anything. So it isn’t me not doing it because I don’t want to; I don’t have the ability to get it done.

Now I really want to know what his idea is.  Is it a prequel? A sequel? A mixture of both? I would love to know where he would’ve taken that series.  And while he says that Lionsgate doesn’t seem interested in making a new film, that doesn’t mean the idea is dead forever.  Lionsgate is still doing smaller horror projects, it might be a matter of time before they circle back around for another Rob Zombie film.  So maybe you don’t want to give up all hope, just temper your expectations.

What would you like to see done with the Firefly clan? Where would you take a sequel? Let us know in the comments.

A prequel – how the Firefly became killers.

The obvious choice would be a sequel with Tiny as a solo act slasher killer, as it is indicated in the Devil’s Rejects. Another way would be something in between both movies, that would be awesome. A prequel would mean a different cast, and that would suck ass.

I’d like a 3rd one just to see Zombie’s growth as a director and how he’d evolve the direction of the story. Plus I bet he’s just touch the tip of the Rejects iceberg. Hope he tries to get rights back. Those flicks are cult now and have surely made their money back.

The 1st two in the series exceeded my expectations. I would pay to see a 3rd.

In the last part of the movie in the shootout scene, the slow motion always seemed to have a dream type of feeling to it. Rob could easily start a 3rd movie in the franchise as one of the rejects are awaking from a dream as they are escaping in the car. Your welcome fellow rejects fans

When I heard that this was in the talks I had to wring out my underwear. Sorry not sorry.

I hope it goes right from where Devils Rejects finishes. Tiny comes on and takes them to the surgeons in the labyrinth.

In my ideas the ending of the Devil’s Rejects was a vision for Baby, Otis and Captain Spaulding. Maybe Tiny survived the fire and could be replaced by the same actor in My Giant. There should be a lynch mob and they hire the Unholy 2. The Devil’s Rejects 2 could be set in 1993 as of 15 years later. Baby Firefly and Otis Driftwood kill the Unholy 2 veteran bounty hunting pair. There’s a Texas Ranger named Andrea Cummings after the Firefly family in all those years believed to be dead. She could in the end arrest the trio. There could be prequel comics.

Something else I forgot is that as of the Devil’s Rejects years ago the sequel could take place in 1992 later in the year to earlier 1993. That’s my 4th grade year. Rob Zombie into the 1970’s could go 1980’s and 1990’s. I was born 2 days before Halloween of 1982.
