Knott’s Scary Farm Reveals New Attractions and Old Favorites for 2015

The folks at Knott’s Berry Farm hosted a special media event today that gave us a brief glimpse at the horror that is to come this Fall.  Soon the ghouls and creeps will be descending upon the California theme park and when the sun goes down the once family friendly destination will transform into Knott’s Scary Farm.

This year sees the return of some classic haunts and attractions with some new twists while also incorporating all new mazes.  First off, here are the returning attractions you can expect to see at this years Knott’s Scary Farm.

-“Black Magic” will be back with an all new Skeleton Key event and some altered scares.

-“Forevermore” is returning with a Skeleton Key room based on the Edgar Allen Poe story “Eleanora” and new room designs.

-“Pinocchio Unstrung” will also return with a new Skeleton Key room and with changes to Pleasure Island.

-“The Gunslinger’s Grave: A Blood Moon Rises” is a new twist on an old favorite.  The outlaws that once plagued the old west town have now been transformed into werewolves. The maze will also explore the legend of the skinwalker.

-“Tooth Fairy” is back with a new Skeleton Key room and an improved finale. To be honest, I can’t even remember what the original finale was, so I suppose anything could be an improvement.

-“Trick or Treat” is mostly remaining the same with a couple of rooms getting a facelift.

-“Voodoo: Order of the Serpent” will have a new Skeleton Key room where you’ll summon the Serpent Goddess.  The maze is also going to be longer and filled with more scares.  Last year I thought this was the most disappointing of all the mazes due to the fact that it was extremely short and lacking scares, so it looks like they’re addressing those issues.

-“Special Ops: Infected- Patient Zero” is getting some shiny new toys.  Guests will get a brand new gun that’ll feature a life bar and better point tracking.

Now here’s what you can expect to be brand new for 2015:

– “Dead of Winter” looks to be blend of horrified “Frozen” and the White Walkers from “Game of Thrones.”  The concept sounds really intriguing as it’ll be a horror maze with a lot of light and high contrasts in it as opposed to the traditional dark mazes.  Here’s the premise for the maze:

Escape the icy grasp of the chilling Snow Queen in the The Dead of Winter. Backed by a ravenous beastly army of resurrected Viking warriors, she is hellbent on avenging her beloved family’s murder, and preys upon any unsuspecting visitors who foolishly enter the borders of her icy domain.

-“My Bloody Clementine” is a new skin for the mine cart ride which will take a horror inspired look at the old song “Clementine.”  Here’s a brief description:

There is no tale more vicious and vengeful than that of My Bloody Clementine. Take a grim ride through the transformed Calico Mine where Clementine and her father were brutally murdered centuries ago. Their wretched spirits roam the tunnels in search of those who killed them. This year, the ride through maze will feature live monsters out for revenge at the train track’s every turn.

-“Paranormal Inc” looks like it’s taking a stab at the “Paranormal Activity”/”Ghost Hunters” crowd with this new maze.  I don’t have a whole lot to go on with this one, but it does sound potentially interesting. Here’s the description:

In this groundbreaking new maze featuring high flying aerial stunts and scares, guests investigate a haunted hospital where the patients were tortured for decades by deranged doctors and nurses. Demonic spirits of the murdered victims have been detected throughout the mysterious halls, while evil medical staff hunt for new patients to torture.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be Knott’s Scary Farm without the return of Elvira. This year she has a brand new show called “Elvira’s Asylum” which promises to blend music, dance, and comedy.  Also returning this year is the “The Hanging” which carries the title of “Straight out of Calico.”  Very timely.  The big new twist on this annual pop culture roast is that the audience will be able to influence the outcome/jokes of the show with their phones.  Could be neat, but then again, it could also be horribly cheesy.  Then again, that’s what the Hanging does best.  So we’ll have to see how that turns out.

Knott’s Scary Farm kicks off on September 24th.  Check out the website for more details.
