‘The Mist’ is Being Turned into a TV Series

If you asked me to drum up a short list of horror movies that could potentially work as TV shows I would guarantee you that “The Mist” would not be anywhere near the top.  However, it looks like the Stephen King story/ Frank Darabont film is getting the small screen treatment.

According to Deadline TWC and Dimension Television are putting together a television adaptation of King’s “The Mist.” The series will be written by Christian Torpe who is primarily known for his television and film work done in Denmark.

“The Mist” tells the story of a small American town besieged by a deadly fog that contains nightmarish creatures.  However, like in many Stephen King stories, the fog isn’t the only threat as the town’s residents soon begin to turn on each other.

I have to imagine that this new series will probably take it’s cue from the novella more than the film as the film’s ending would be…uh… problematic for a multi-season show.  Though it’ll be interesting to see how long the series sticks to the story as the majority of the novella takes place in one building.
