Red Barrels Reveals ‘Outlast 2’ Teaser Trailer

It was just two years ago that Red Barrels unleashed their first game on to the world.  “Outlast” was a fun and thrilling horror game where the objective was to run, hide, and use your camera to navigate the darkest corners of an asylum/monster factory.  And now, just in time for Halloween, the studio has revealed their next game: “Outlast 2.”

“Outlast 2” won’t be due out till Fall 2016, so the teaser trailer doesn’t offer us a whole lot of details, but you can take some guesses about where the story might go.  Given the use of a burning upside down cross, I’m gonna guess that there might be some demonic/religious elements in the next game.  And it looks like it might be in a forested location.  Given the southern drawl on the voice, maybe we’re getting some kind of backwoods horror story.

Here’s what Red Barrels had to say about their upcoming game:

Outlast 2, the sequel to the acclaimed survival horror game Outlast, is a twisted new journey into the depths of the human mind and its dark secrets.

No conflict is ever black and white. But once the dust has settled, the victors get to decide who was right and who was wrong. Who is good and who is evil. Human nature pushes us to extremes of violence and depravity, which we then justify by divine inspiration and a promise of paradise to come. Horror rises from desperation and blind faith. OUTLAST 2 will test your faith, pushing players to a place where going mad is the only sane thing to do.
