Check Out Jason in Action in this Pre-Alpha ‘Friday the 13th: The Game’ Footage

Jason McDonald

Well, another Friday the 13th has come and gone and we still don’t have a new “Friday the 13th” movie. However, the guys behind the upcoming “Friday the 13th” game have us covered with this look at their pre-alpha gameplay.

If you’re new to video game terminology, think of pre-alpha as an extremely rough draft of an essay.  At this point they have a general idea of what the game is, but now they need to shape and form it.  I think the gameplay looks rather promising, even in these early stages.  Jason seems to have certain skills, including the ability to “teleport” or close the gap between him and his victims despite the fact that he’s walking. Another nice touch is that the as the camp counselor seems to run out of stamina she begins to trip and stumble while running.

The developers also briefly mention mission objects like fixing a broken car by finding parts and putting them together so the camp counselors can get away. And it looks like the camp counselors won’t be totally defenseless as they’ll access to various tools.  In the video below we see a camp counselor use a flare gun to alert the other counselors of Jason’s presence.  Of course, this lights up the forest and makes it easier for Jason to spot her.  Personally, I can’t wait to see how this thing shapes up.
