Sometimes it feels like creature feature films are having a small resurgence, but the sub genre never really seems to get going. It’s more like it has little signs of life every now and then, but it’s mostly still just thriving on life support. Maybe a new indie horror-comedy will help inject a bit of adrenaline in the sub genre.
THR is reporting that Sean Astin, Jake Busey, and Tom Arnold have signed on to star in new indie horror-comedy “Dead Ant.” The film is being written and directed by Ron Carlson whose previous works include “All American Christmas Carol” and “Unnatural.” A clear pattern of horror and comedy that naturally leads to a marriage of the two.
According to THR “Dead Ant”…
tells of a down on their luck hair metal band that gets a chance for a comeback with an appearance at Coachella. However, the group gets sidelined in the desert and must fight for their lives against giant ants. Astin is the band’s roadie while Arnold is their manager. Busey and Coiro are part of the band.
The film will also star Rhys Coiro (“Texas Rising”), Leisha Hailey (“The ‘L’ Word”), Danny Woodburn (“Lavalantula” and Mickey from “Seinfeld”), and Michael Horse (“Twin Peaks”).
