Telltale’s New Game ‘The Walking Dead: Michonne’ Gets a Release Date

Jason McDonald

Last summer we learned that Telltale was drumming up another “Walking Dead” game, but instead of being a cast of original characters, this one would explore a hugely popular “Walking Dead” character: Michonne.

“The Walking Dead: Michonne” will be a three episode series that’ll reveal a previously unseen point in Michonne’s life.  This new game will take it’s inspiration directly from the comic book series as it’ll be set between issues #126 and #139 where Michonne briefly left Rick and his group.

The first episode of the series, called “In Too Deep”, will premiere on February 23rd on PC/Mac, PS4, PS3, XBox One, and XBox 360.  The game will retail for $14.99 for all three episodes.  Each of the three episodes will release a month apart so you can expect the first in February, the second in March, and the third in April.  Kind of a long wait for just three episodes, but pretty normal for Telltale.

In the premiere episode, ‘In Too Deep,’ Michonne joins Pete and his crew on the sailing ship The Companion as they cruise the coast for survivors and supplies. When a desperate signal for help draws them to a scene of horrific massacre, Michonne and the crew are lead further to the floating survivors’ colony of Monroe, which may just be harboring the person responsible for the carnage.

Also, if you want to get an early peek at the new game, Telltale will be running a special stream this Sunday.  Here’s how Telltale describes it:

Ahead of its release, fans are invited to get an exclusive extended preview of the first episode of the series on Youtube.com/TelltaleGamesthis Sunday February 14th at 8:30pm EST / 5:30pm PST. The development team will introduce the series allowing fans to experience the first five minutes of the premiere episode, exploring Michonne’s struggle to remain among the living while being haunted by her past.

So be sure to tune in to that if you want a glimpse at the new game.
