‘Halloween’ Finds a New Home with Blumhouse – Plus John Carpenter is Involved

We have lost count on the many re-boot announcements, re-imaginings, sequels and everything else when it comes to Halloween, but this news that we have for you today actually feels as if a new Halloween movie is actually happening this time.

According to Bloody-Disgusting, a new Halloween film will be a joint production between Blumhouse, Miramax, and Trancas International Films, with Blumhouse’s Jason Blum and Trancas’ Malek Akkad acting as producers.

And then there’s this; John Carpenter has been announced as an executive producer on the film. There are also rumors that Carpenter may even act as the composer for the film, although that hasn’t been confirmed, but if so, oh my.

In regards to the new film, Carpenter stated the following;

38 years after the original Halloween. I’m going to help to try to make the 10th sequel the scariest of them all

Trancas International expressed the following statement;

Trancas International is thrilled to be teaming up with Miramax on ‘Halloween,’ one of the most enduring horror franchises in film. We are also very excited to be working with Jason Blum and the whole team at Blumhouse. Together, along with the return of legendary filmmaker John Carpenter, we are eager to make a film that will be a milestone in the franchise’s legacy and that will excite the fans, young and old.

No release date has been announced, but there has been word to expect the film sometime in 2017.
