Paramount Gives Third Cloverfield Film a New Release Date

Jason McDonald

Unlike the surprise announcement of “10 Cloverfield Lane” the third installment in the Cloverfield series hasn’t been kept underwraps as tightly.  With a release date scheduled for February it seemed like Paramount was going to pull another “surprise” trailer reveal shortly before the release of their new film “God Particle”, though this time we’d be ready for it.

However, it looks like Paramount wound up surprising us in a different way.  Rather than release “God Particle” two months from now they’ve opted to release it on October 27, 2017 according to THR.  The third film to be inducted into J.J. Abram’s “Cloverfield” universe takes the series from Earth and into space.  In the film a group of scientists find themselves stranded in a space station when the Earth suddenly disappears after an experiment.  However, they soon realize they aren’t alone in space when a space shuttle begins to approach their station.

The film will star Chris O’Dowd, Daniel Bruhl, David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Zhang Ziyi.  This will mark the second feature film for director Julius Onah.
