Linda Hamilton will Return for the Next ‘Terminator’ Film

It’s been a big month for returning heroines.  First we had the Jamie Lee Curtis announcement last week and now we’ve learned that another iconic heroine is returning to a franchise she helped launch.

THR and James Cameron have revealed that Linda Hamilton will be returning for the next “Terminator” film.  THR reports that Cameron made the announcement at a private event, which hey thanks for the invite Jimmy, and did so with a statement about gender and women in action:

As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it’s going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she’s become return.  There are 50-year-old, 60-year-old guys out there killing bad guys, but there isn’t an example of that for women.

Which is a great sentiment, but kind of ironic since he threw criticism at “Wonder Woman” earlier this year and seems to have totally forgotten that 50 year old Robin Wright was in it as a total badass seasoned warrior killing bad guys, but whatever.

Tim Miller (“Deadpool”) is set to direct the film based off a story created by Cameron.  The new film appears to be a direct sequel to James Cameron’s “Judgement Day.”  They’re also hoping this new film will spawn a trilogy of stand-alone films.  Along with the returning Hamilton we’ll, of course, see the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the titular character.
