So speak of the devil! I was just talking about how the next Cloverfield movie was one of my most anticipated movies of 2018; however, there was something strange about the movie. Up until today the movie was still listed as releasing on February 2, 2018. That’s a month away and we haven’t seen a poster, trailer, or even a proper title for the fim. Given how crazy the previous releases have been for “Cloverfield” films, I was kind of expecting a trailer to drop any day now. Instead, we’ve learned that the movie has been pushed back.
According to Screen Rant the next entry in the Cloverfield series, presumably still called “God Particle,” will now release on April 20, 2018. Much like how “10 Cloverfield Lane” was a surprise Cloverfield film, “God Particle” was a film that only in the last few years was revealed to be connected to the Cloverfield universe. The film was originally announced in 2012 and it’s believed that it might have been assimilated into the Cloverfield universe. No idea if that means anything about the film was changed, but given that the Cloverfield films are only supposed to be loosely connected it probably wouldn’t need much adjustment.
In “God Particle” a team of astronauts aboard the International Space Station suddenly find themselves alone in space when the Earth suddenly vanishes following an experiment gone awry. However, the arrival of a unknown space shuttle leads the team to a horrific discovery. The film comes by way of director Julius Onah who released his first feature film, “The Price,” last year to admirable reviews. It stars Daniel Bruhl, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris O’Dowd, John Ortiz, David Oyelowo, and Zhang Ziyi.
