The Axeman Returns Once Again in ‘Axeman 3: Absolution’

Chris Savage

Are you guys fans of Joston “El Rey” Theney’s Axeman slasher series? If so, you’ll be pleased to know that the carnage is continuing as we have learned that a third film in the franchise, Axeman 3: Absolution, is currently being penned by Theney and is said to be the last in the trilogy of films. Also, he is working on a one-off graphic novel and a series of books that will serve as origins stories for the film franchise. Check out the details below.

From the Press Release:

#SinningWorks is set to triple down on the axe-wielding local legend from Cutter’s Creek known simply as… the AXEMAN.

Released to home video by production company / distributor #SinningWorks on October 17, 2017, the second installment of the 80’s throwback slasher series titled AXEMAN 2: OVERKILL has been met with positive reviews and general excitement from fans. Starring MTV “Teen Mom” Farrah Abraham, CBS’ “Big Brother” Rachel Reilly, “Baywatch” star Angelica Bridges and a bevy of genre talent that includes Monique Parent, Arielle Brachfeld, Michael Foster, Jacqui Holland and many more — the series is getting a big push.

Today filmmaker Joston “El Rey” Theney confirmed that he is currently penning the script to the last installment of the trilogy, titled AXEMAN 3: ABSOLUTION, while also in pre-production on a one-off graphic novel and a series of books that will serve as origins stories for the film franchise.

About AXEMAN 3: ABSOLUTION
“This one is more of a straighforward slasher and kind of a character study on what generations of hate and revenge can do to the culture of a township and it’s people. And the concept and consequence of real forgiveness. With lots of blood and gore and unpleasantness thrown in.”

About the GRAPHIC NOVEL:
“This links the events of “Overkill” and “Absolution” so that it’s a smooth transition. And it will give youa sense of the new tone of the series and what the last film will feel like. I don’t want to ruin it by talking too much about the title or the story as many fans in other countries haven’t seen the movie yet but when I say it is graphic, I assure you it will turn your stomach a little.”

About the BOOK SERIES:
“In writing the third film and explaining the genesis of Cutter’s Creek and Cordova Peak and Hunter’s Ridge, and why those towns are so cursed, I realized just how fascinating it was and how much more story there was to tell. I’m hopeful fans of the film and general horror readers will find it interesting as well.”

AXEMAN 2: OVERKILL is unrated and streaming today on Amazon, Amazon Prime, FandangoNOW, ScreamBox, Vimeo & PantaFlix.
