Bruce Campbell Says ‘Ash is Done’ if ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ is Cancelled

As much as I love “Ash vs Evil Dead” it’s clear that this isn’t the kind of show that would go on for years and years.  However, if it should meet a premature end, it looks like Bruce Campbell may be ready to hang up the chainsaw for good.

While “Ash vs Evil Dead” has been well received by fans of the “Evil Dead” series, the show hasn’t exactly been a ratings giant for Starz.  Currently the series is in the middle of its third season, but the creators beyond the show have yet to hear if they would be renewed for a fourth season yet.  That isn’t all that strange, but when your show is on the bubble it can be pretty nerve wracking waiting for that green light.

So what will happen if “Ash vs Evil Dead” is cancelled?  Star Bruce Campbell has spoken in the past about possibly bringing the character back to films, but at a recent appearance at the Irish Film Institute Campbell seemed to be singing a different tune. And it definitely wasn’t a limerick.  When asked about the possibility of another movie, this is what he had to say:

“No, no, no. Because if they cancel it I think Ash is done.  I have lavender on my property. I’m going to smoke weed and hang out.”

Of course, you can never say never especially with a guy like Bruce Campbell who might be inspired to keep going if the right set of circumstances presented themselves.  Still, it’s rather depressing to think we could be living in a world where Ash is no more.  Hopefully Starz can see it in their hearts to give the show one last season to properly send him off into retirement.
