James Wan may be off directing non-horror movies these days, but his producing heart is still very much into horror. The “Conjuring” director is teaming up with Netflix and the producers of “Stranger Things” to bring a new slasher film to Netflix.
Deadline is reporting that young adult novel “There’s Someone Inside Your House” is being adapted by Netflix for their streaming service. The book was written by Stephanie Perkins and became a New York Times bestseller. Here’s how Deadline described the plot.
More than a year after her parents sent her away from Hawaii to live with her grandmother in landlocked Nebraska, Makani Young is still adjusting to her new life. She’s made a small group of close friends and even flirted with romance, but her past in Hawaii is still hard to forget. And then … one by one the students of her new high school begin to die in a series of gruesome murders. Makani doesn’t know who’s next on the list. Between this, and a secret scorching relationship with the school weirdo, this school year may turn out to be one to die for … literally.
Just to pop your bubble right now, Deadline is reporting that it seems unlikely that James Wan will be involved in the directorial process as he’s currently wrapped up in post production for “Aquaman.” And then there’s the third “Conjuring” film on the horizon which Wan may wind up directing. So it doesn’t seem likely he would be able to jump into this one at this point, but you never know. Henry Gayden, who worked on “Earth to Echo,” will be handling the screenplay.
