Bill Hader and James McAvoy are in Talks to Star in ‘It: Chapter 2’

The highly anticipated sequel “IT” is set to start production this summer, so it’s just about time for all the big casting news to start rolling out.  For a while now we’ve been hearing the rumblings of Jessica Chastain signing on to play adult Bev in “Chapter 2.”  And while we haven’t had a big announcement about it yet, it appears that the Hollywood Reporter is straight up saying she is signed on at this point.  And, according to them, she might find herself with some company soon.

According to THR actors Bill Hader and James McAvoy are currently in talks to star in “IT: Chapter 2.”  The site reports that Hader would be playing adult Richie while McAvoy would be adult Bill.  Casting Bill Hader as Richie would be perfect as you need someone who can do a bit of serious drama, but also be an annoying comedic jerk.  McAvoy as Bill is an interesting choice as, on paper, he does seem like a good match for a kid that grows up to be an author . . . I just never would have picked him for the role.

Along with the new adult actors we will also be seeing the returns of all the child actors who portrayed the Losers Club in the first “IT” installment and of course the return of Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise.

“It: Chapter 2” will hit theaters on September 6, 2019.
